Watch our costumed blacksmith in action as he crafts various iron pieces. All ages welcome to this free, drop-in event.

Let’s Craft! Painted Candle Holder in Little Red Schoolhouse
The museum’s annual Holiday Open House is tomorrow, so let’s get ready for candle dipping and make something to put your candle in! Paint a candle holder today and bring it with you tomorrow. Our Sensory-Friendly environment (dim lights, a calm room, limited people) will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Free. Drop in. All ages welcome.

53rd Annual Holiday Open House
This annual event has become a tradition with local families. Come for a day of extraordinary reenactments, music, demonstrations, refreshments, a visit from Santa, and hands-on activities like candle dipping! Fun for all ages. FREE.

Candle Dipping in the Historical Park
Bring some light to the dark days of winter by making your own candles in our historical park. Our costumed interpreters will enlighten you about the history and show you how it’s done. FREE. All ages welcome. Drop-in.

Scottish Faire in Historical Park
Join our early North Carolina Scots families as they prepare to celebrate and enjoy festive Scottish traditions for New Year’s Eve (Hogmanay) and the Yule season. Enjoy traditional Hogmanay dishes made over an open fire, along with music, poetry, and more. Get ready for the end-of-year festivities by coming in costume! Free to the public.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…in your house with this fun decoration! We’re making popsicle stick snowflakes for this winter season in Little Red Schoolhouse. Join us!
