Fall Harvest in the Historical Park
Food preservation like salting and smoking meats and pickling were necessary for backcountry North Carolinians. Successful summer and fall harvests can mean comfort during the long winter months. Come help our costumed interpreters preserve our fall bounty for the cold winter ahead. FREE. All ages welcome. Drop-in.

Ghost Stories in the Historical Park
Join us for our 14th Annual Ghost Stories in the Park with snacks, crafts and pumpkin decorating from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Professional storyteller, Donna Washington will tell spooky, but not too scary tales for the young and old from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. Free. All ages welcome.

Board Games in the Historical Park
Come join our costumed interpreters for a fun day of board games in the park. Bring a blanket or find a seat at our picnic tables for a simple game of cards, 9 Men’s Morris, and more. Don’t worry, our costumed interpreters will tell you the rules. FREE. All ages welcome. Drop-in.

Let’s Craft! Clay Candy Dish in Little Red Schoolhouse
Where do you put your left-over candy from Trick or Treating? Maybe it can be in the candy dish you make in Little Red Schoolhouse! We’ll bring the clay, and you’ll bring your imagination to make your clay candy dish! **Painting your candy dish not included** Our Sensory Friendly environment (dim lights, calm room, limited people) will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Free. Drop in. All ages welcome.

Día de los Muertos
Join the High Point Museum and the YWCA Latino Family Center for a hybrid learning experience and celebration about the Day of the Dead, a Latin American holiday originating in Mexico. An altar exhibit will be on display from October 21 to November 1. Enjoy family entertainment and crafts while learning about the holiday celebrated in honor of the loved ones no longer with us.
Únete al Museo de High Point y el Latino Family Center de YWCA High Point para una experiencia de aprendizaje híbrida acerca del Dia de los Muertos, una celebración Latinoamericana que se origino en México. Se tendrá en exhibición un altar desde el 21 de octubre al 1 de noviembre. Venga y disfrute de entretenimiento y manualidades para la familia mientras aprenden sobre esta celebración en honor a los seres queridos que ya no están con nosotros.

High Point Museum Ghost Stories in the Dark
Time: 6 PM - 7:30 PM
Description: The High Point Museum will host its 14th Annual Ghost Stories in the Park.
From 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., guests can create fall-themed crafts with the High Point Historical Society. Snacks will be available as visitors settle in to hear family-friendly, frightening, and amusing ghost stories from award-winning storyteller Donna Washington. Be sure to bring chairs and blankets to sit on during the story.
Washington is an internationally known performer who has brought folklore, literary tales, and personal narratives to life for more than 30 years. She has recorded over 10 storytelling albums and written six children’s books, including A Big Spooky House, Li’l Rabbit’s Kwanzaa, and the delightfully spooky Boo Stew.
“This is one of our favorite fall programs,” says High Point Museum Communication Specialist Tamara Vaughan. “We are excited to host artist-educator and author Donna Washington and to welcome everyone back for the 14th anniversary Ghost Stories in the Park.”

Interactive Resource Center: City Council Candidates
Time: 6 PM
Description: The IRC is hosting a Town Hall with Greensboro City Council candidates. The event is moderated by Joe Killian from The Assembly.
The event will address homelessness, as well as Greensboro's Road to 10,000 to acquire new housing at all income levels.
This is a chance to hear candidates' perspectives on issues related to the rising number of the unhoused, how to navigate changes in federal funding that might increase the number of those without shelter, mental health access, and their vision for a livable Greensboro. This is a chance for you to ask questions about these issues! Be sure to visit our social media next week to see which candidates are in attendance.
