As part of our compassion effort, Resilience High Point is pleased to partner with the High Point Public Library to bring Stitching Stories Reimagined, a public art exhibit, to High Point in January 2026. The exhibit is a project of the Arise Collective and funded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation’s public art initiative. During the COVID pandemic, incarcerated women’s connections with community and family were severely curtailed. Work permits and visitations were terminated indefinitely. In response, a few women banded together and began crocheting a special quilt in which they could represent their loss. This quilt has been reimagined into an artistic representation that will travel the state before being permanently installed in Raleigh. The art exhibit may be viewed 9 A.M to 4:30 P.M daily from January 12 to February 18, 2026 in the parking lot at the High Point Public Library.
Resilience High Point is dedicated to building a more compassionate community where we people thrive and learn together. “This art installation will give us the opportunity to explore the costs to individuals and communities when women go to prison and how we might help when their debts are paid and they return home,” says Dr. Patrick Harman, Chair of Resilience High Point’s Board of Directors.
Several events are scheduled during the course of the installation that are open to the public. They include:
Opening Ceremony, Morgan Room High Point Public Library Monday, January 12, 2026 at 3 P.M. Local dignitaries and the community will be invited to celebrate the arrival of the traveling art exhibit to High Point.
Cider & Cookies will be distributed, just after the MLK Day Parade, at the High Point Public Library Sunday, January 18, at 3 P.M. As the MLK Day parade wraps up we will serve warm cider and cookies to capture the attention of parade attendees and encourage them to view the art exhibit.
